ETA

Here we are in lovely Concourse C at O'Hare. Scott sang the "Duty Free Shop" song from Seinfeld when we walked by.

So far, so good. Granted, we are only in Chicago. Our 40 minute flight was smooth and uneventful and early!

I have developed an alternative theory about why people get sick in Kazakhstan. It isn't because of the new germs, it is because by the time you get there, you are running on empty. I got exactly 4 hours of sleep last night. I was making pancakes (only got to 57!) and finishing up work for my classes. Also, I have had zero appetite, which is really unusual. I have not been eating much at all. Don't worry. I have lots of reserves :)!

We should arrive in Almaty at 11:20 pm (Kaz time) tomorrow (which is our tomorrow morning - I am getting the hang of the time change thing). Not sure if I will be able to post.

Next stop Frankfurt!

Eeee!!!! Seriously giddy here. Seriously.

I hope you were able to get some sleep on the plane!

I read the last part of your post and said aloud, "You better be able to post!" Then I laughed at myself. Maybe a little anxious am I? :-)

So happy that you are on your way! Seems like yesterday that I emailed you from my apartment in Uralsk. Get as much rest as you can and enjoy the ride. Can't wait to see you with "Saskia."

Mom to Izaak and Aaliya

PS: Homemade buckwheat/wheat pancakes - you go girl! I wish they made just add water wheat pancake mix! Let me know if you find any.

This is so exciting... it's been such a long and winding road, and now you're reaching your destination. Have good flights, get as much rest as you can, EAT, and be good to yourself!

Be proud of yourself, also. Years from now when Luca is grown, he will look back and remember the time his mom made him 57 pancakes. It's the little things parents do that are remembered the most. Saskia will be one lucky girl to come into such a loving family.

Safe travels!

I am biting my nails!! And, I thought of you today when I purchased frozen pancakes for Alexa. But hey, I'm still in a hotel in Henderson so I have an excuse. Once I have cooking capabilities, I am following your lead!

Can't wait to hear about it, my friend!

Okay...now I have to look up the Seinfeld *Duty Free Shop* song. I can't recall what it sounds like. Cute!

I'm proud of you that you were able to make 57 pancakes!! You rock!

Eat, sleep, use hand sanitizer and relax until you get there. Don't get sick!! Although if you do I'm sure you're very prepared!

I cannot wait to read what happens next!

We're very happy for you!

On your way!

FYI - I didn't get sick once in Kaz, and I seriously think it had to do with the small vodka and cherry juice I drank each night on the advice of our driver!!

Continued good wishes ...

57 pancakes?! I'm impressed! So happy to hear you are on your way to Kaz!

And you're right about getting sick. That's my theory too. I didn't get sick until the end of my trip and then caught another nasty bug last week that I'm still fighting. The stress and travel take it out of you. Be sure to eat, sleep, and take vitamins!

Can't wait for your next posts from Kaz!

Wow, you are on your way! Yes, this trip and preparing for it sure does run you down with little sleep. Make sure you take your vitamins. And I have to tell you that you are going to lose some of those reserves. My final total was 17 lbs lost. The diet and the exercise you get over there is much different. But it will happen without you even thinking about it. All you have to think about is your sweet Saskia. Good luck with the rest of your travels. You are on my mind! Tricia

just think of the thousands of prayers that are winging their way with you to meet Saskia! Enjoy this experience!!! And I'd take that advice about a nightly vodka with cherry juice, btw.....

Can't wait to hear all about your trip! And hope you didn't get caught up in the FAA shutdown!
